A little business maths

What could a few
more customers mean?

Start with your own numbers. This simple calculator looks at what is left after the cost of doing the work, so the result is more useful than a big revenue figure.

Try a scenario.

These starting figures are examples, not a quote or a forecast. Change them to fit your business.

Want to estimate payback?

Add a proposed project cost, if you have one. These fields are optional.

Your scenario

Run the numbers.

Choose your assumptions, then calculate.

Extra customers per month
—
Extra monthly revenue
—
Monthly contribution after direct and added running costs
—
Estimated project payback
—

An illustration, not a promise of new work. Results depend on demand, traffic, your offer and capacity. This is contribution, not total business profit; tax, existing overheads and the value of your time may reduce it further.

Talk through the numbers

The calculation, plainly.

Extra customers = additional enquiries × conversion rate. Revenue = customers × average job value. Contribution = revenue × the percentage left after direct costs, minus added monthly running costs. Payback = the project cost divided by a positive monthly contribution.
